5 Tactics for Building Your Author Brand
As an indie writer you are your own brand.
Your book gives legitimacy to you as the sole expert on your own book. Many writers feel more comfortable off stage, so to speak, but success as an idie writer means being the face of your personal brand.
Here are three tactics for improving your brand.
1) Identify and know your audience. As a writer, imagine who your perfect reader is in every detail almost like writing a character.
2) Build your email list of genuine fans. Collect emails at book signing events or through social media campaigns.
3) Create a promo video. It can be short but it is a powerful way to speak directly to your perfect reader directly. With phones this is easier than ever.
4) Get on social media. Don't bother being on all of them (the horror) but pick one or two that you are familiar with and establish a specific persona that represents your personal brand and have fun with it. Skipping social media is leaving chips on the table and it costs nothing!
5) Consider securing a website domain and building a landing page. Complex websites are not necessary. A simple landing page is like an online business card and costs the same or less than printing a stack of actual business cards.
